At Tower Homes, we’re proud to support the community of Irondale with more than just building new homes. Recently, we had the pleasure of attending and helping out during the Irondale Unity in the Community event. The gathering saw law enforcement officials from Irondale and Jefferson County join together with several local community and church leaders to host a free cookout and open panel discussion. The public forum conversation was focused on the community and police relations in Irondale.
The Unity in the Community event was about building relationships in Irondale. Tower Homes donated the food and a food truck with the help of our friend, Doug Delong of 84 Lumber. As local Birmingham home builders, this was another chance for our company and team to give back to the community leaders, residents, and public servants in Irondale.
The panel discussion included Atkinson, Bessemer police Chief Nathaniel Rutledge, Bessemer Cutoff District Attorney Bill Veitch, Miles College Director of Public Safety Theo Lawson, Jefferson County District Attorney Brandon Falls, Center Point Police Chief Antonio Weatherly, U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance and FBI Special Agent in Charge Roger Stanton and FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jackie Maguire.
The discussion was moderated by the pastors from Revelation Church Ministries and King’s Way Church.
Atkinson said he hopes the event will be the first of many. “If you get to know people, you develop a bond and trust,” the chief said. “Across the country, most people would tell you it’s a step in the right direction.”
